Coon Ass

Filed under: General — Lemon @ 8:00 pm

So, I don’t remember if I’ve talked about Milton and Verna on this blog before, but my friends know the stories . . .

Well, Ole Milty has gone and topped himself now. To protect the various vegetation in his FRONT yard - blueberry bushes, tomato plants on stakes, squash, etc - he has installed a rabbit trap. That’s right, a rabbit trap.

Now, of course, when I was growing up in the country, my dad had a rabbit trap by the strawberry patch, but all that ever came of that was that my dad would take the bunny and put him in the forest and basically say, “Bad bunny, no strawberries” and then little Peter would cottontail it right back where he came from, no harm done.

But do you know what people like Milty are gonna do with it?
That’s right, Cajun Fried Rabbit Surprise. Poor Bunny . . .
This ain’t the old homestead, buddy - the HA’s getting a call tomorrow.

  3. Actually, I have eaten rabbit - but it was an accident. The neighbor guy in KY fed it to me.

It was damn tasty. I’ll admit it.

  4. Agreed. My mother told me it was chicken. I should have known when I ate it and thought “That’s the best fried chicken I ever had!” Then she told me, in that smug, proud of herself that she pulled one over on me way of hers that it was indeed a rabbit. I was irritated.

Still a damn good piece of fried chicken, that rabbit.
